Mah nishtana ha-laila hazeh mikol ha-leilot, mikol ha-leilot?
(Why is this night different from all other nights?)
1. She-b’chol ha-leilot anu ochlin chametz u-matzah, chametz u-matzah.
Ha-laila hazeh, ha-laila hazeh, ku-lo matzah. (x2)
(On all other nights we eat matzah and/or bread. This night, only matzah.)
2. She-b’chol ha-leilot anu ochlin sh’ar y’rakot, sh’ar y’rakot.
Ha-lailah hazeh, ha-laila hazeh, maror, maror. (x2)

(On all other nights we eat all vegetables. This night, bitter herbs.)
3. She-b’chol ha-leilot ein anu matbilin afilu pa-am echat, afilu pa-am echat,
Ha-lailah hazeh, ha-lailah hazeh, sh’tei f’amim. (2x)
(On all other nights we don’t have to dip even one time. On this night, two times.)
4. She-b’chol ha-leilot anu ochlin bein yoshvin u-vein m’subin, bein yoshvin u-vein m’subin.
Ha-laila hazeh, ha-lailah hazeh, kulanu m’subin.(2x)
(On all other nights we eat either sitting [up straight] or leaning. On this night, we only lean.)
